It's time to return to the office. What are you going to wear?
Going back to the office after a pandemic is going to be a tough one. You've been living in sweat pants and maybe a nice shirt (if you've been in zoom meetings). Let's at least make the wardrobe transition easy for you. Lounge pants to slacks doesn't have to be hard. We compiled a few options that we think you'll love.
Depending on your office dress code and what type of environment you work in you may have more or less flexibility so always check with HR on what they will allow.
1. Basic Tanks
These are always a safe bet especially if you know you'll be wearing a layering piece in that drafty office. Remember, you probably won't have anymore control over the thermostat anymore.
2. Blouses
Grab a fun blouse, pair it with some dark wash jeans or pants, and add some jewelry. You'll be good to go in a stylish and easy outfit.
This blush color ruffle sleeve top is anything short of basic. It's great for a night out with the girls but easily makes a wonderful business casual top with the right pants and shoes.
3. Pants
If your office allows it there's more options for pants, especially for women. From dark wash jeans, wide leg pants, and jeggings. We recommend staying away from jeans that are distressed as well as pants that are so comfy you could sleep in them.
We love these plaid pull on pants. Comfy, stretchy, and still dressy enough to be perfect for the office.
4. Skirts
Would you rather spruce it up a little? Grab a gorgeous skirt and pair it with a nice mock top or tuck in that gorgeous scalloped cami with a blazer paired over it. Skirts are so underrated and a nice pencil skirt will keep your legs cool during the summer. In the cooler months just add a pair of thicker hosiery and you'll be able to rock it all year round.
We love the look of this tiered maxi skirt for the office.
5. Dresses
Dresses are a great option for work. They're flowy, comfortable, and great to move around the office in. Remember that if you'd wear it for a day in the sand it's probably not work appropriate.
Grab a striped dress and pair it with a black cardigan and a simple gold necklace for a stunning office look.
6. Black Blazer
A black blazer is a great option to invest in. Especially if you're attending power lunches, conferences, business meetings, etc. Even if you're not required to wear a blazer every day it's a great closet staple to keep on hand.
We love the cut on this blazer. It's simple, yet stunning.
7. Cardigans
If you're not expected to wear a blazer but you still want a nice layering piece for the office we recommend a basic cardigan. Like i mentioned before, you don't get to control the temp and it could go from hot to cold quickly.
We love the simplicity of these layering cocoon cardigans add a pop of color or go with a neutral to mix and match with your favorite pieces. Grab an extra to leave at the office so you won't have to worry if you leave home without it.
8. Accessories
Now let's talk accessories. Honestly, I feel like accessories can really make an outfit! I love pairing a blouse with a long necklace and some cute stud earrings. You can also do combos like a simple necklace with big chunky earrings as well.
Multi Strand beaded necklace are a great piece for your business attire. They come in different color options so you can grab a black neutral or collect them all.
9. Purses and Bags
Of course you'll need that nice bag for the office. Something you can throw your things into since you won't be at home with everything at your disposal. A nice size tote, backpack, or purse is great to be able to throw in your cardigan, snacks, etc.
We love this black backpack with a shoulder strap. Plenty of room to stick a tablet or small laptop into and can be styled as a shoulder bag or as a backpack. Versatility is always a great choice!
10. Shoes
Last but not least, shoes. We all need a nice shoe for the office. We recommend a nice flat or low heel. Especially since most of us haven't been living that stiletto life during quarantine.
We love these snakeskin print flats for the office. Animal print is always a neutral!
We hope these ideas help you create your wardrobe for going back to the office or if it's your first office job. As always ask your HR to make sure you're following all of their guidelines but we think these are pretty safe bets to stay in fashionable styles that aren't TOO dressy and you won't be under dressed either.
Drop us a note and let us know if this helped you find that perfect outfit!

I feel like this was written for me since I just started a new job about 6 weeks ago.
I love this! The tips are spot on, and layering is SO essential when the temps can vary throughout the day!
